Shark Cove, Mi. - As Friday afternoon floated around, our intrepid hero found himself sitting on the back porch of Bread Baking's International Epicenter, Yeti Boy's house, having a beer with his
Reb, Sharkman and Airman
at the start!
wingman, Yeti Boy. Reb was also in attendance and when Sharkman shared that he hated missing the ride due to his required attendance for a church function, both Reb and Yeti Boy recommended that the three ride over to the start and back! Great idea! Sharkman could get a ride in, see his Nation AND still make the 10:00 a.m. event! Is this a great country or what?!?

After a few more beers, and a photo-op by his adoring fan (that would be Reb), our hero texted Rainman and Mad Dog to let them know he was riding over. Mad Dog stated that he had arranged to leave really early and meet Airman on the road, while Rainman said he was out.
Whoa, B-Rod in his WAM kit?

As dawn broke bright and warm over the Shark Cove, we found our hero bustling along to get ready, as Yeti Boy is usually a bit early. Sure enough, at 6:56 a.m., Yeti Boy rode up the driveway at the Cove and the two riders were off to meet Reb on the way.

It was a beautiful summer morning and, for the first time in a while, no jacket or arm warmers were needed.

After the three riders arrived at the start, other Minions started piling in along with some new minions to the Nation. Two riders who had heard about the ride from legendary Minion, CycoCross,
Virgin Minion "The Italian!"
were The Italian and Caboose! The Nation loves when they come with their own cycling names! Welcome to the Mighty Minion Nation!

Another rider who claimed to have ridden with the Nation last year after he had broken his collarbone, was John, Name to be Determined! Welcome back, Name to be Determined!

Shortly after Sharkman arrived, Nikeboy appeared looking “stylish” in his kit once again, stating he had gotten to the Cove just short of launch time and had ridden over solo!

Sorry Nikeboy!
Nikeboy "styling" at the start!

Other riders piling in on WAM Jersey Day were Toast, B-Rod (looking wild in his knee socks and WAM kit), Airman, Mad Dog (who completely missed Airman on the road), Zychmann, Gazelle Girl, Ironman, Sasquatch and more. The count was 20 as the Nation pulled out of the station and rode down towards the Klutch.

Sharkman, Reb and Yeti Boy said goodbye at the Klutch and headed back to the Shark Cove via Qman Hill and MN Ave.while the Nation rode on.

Returning Minion John, name to
be determined!
Sharkman had requested that Gazelle Girl write something up, but later the Editors at Belo News received an email from the Sweetheart of the Peloton that stated,

Sadly, I don't have a write up for today. My memory for events when I'm panting just isn't so good. (It's really not so good any other time, either.) Maybe someone will come through. I did get the GGG Spot Sprint, however, with a little help from my friends!”

Gazelle Girl's comment about “panting,” the GGG Spot Sprint and help from her friends got the newsroom all a-flutter, but it appeared there was nothing more to report.
The Nation gathers for the start!

However, in late breaking news, Squeaky - the Nation's sometimes “Style Guy” - sent an apology to Belo News for the entire Nation, or at least those in attendance on Saturday, concerning “assistance” to Gazelle Girl during the sprint.

Dear Sharkman,

If you have not heard yet, I made a bad error in judgment by trying to help Gazelle Girl to G Ave. by giving her a little push. I could have caused a big accident by going out of control. It was a bad idea and I will take the full reprimand of the Sharkman and a 4 week suspension if required. I won't ever try that again and am sorry and will apologize to the ride for my action.

Sincerely,

Squeaky”

The Caboose! Welcome to
the mighty Minion Nation!
Whoa, what happened! Belo News immediately launched an investigation into the incident and learned the following:

Apparently the Nation was steaming toward the GGG Spot Sprint and it appeared that once again, Gazelle Girl was in the mood to “go for it.” Zychmann, Airman and Sasquatch decided to give the Sweetheart of the Peloton a lead out so that she could achieve complete satisfaction in taking the sprint. As Gazelle Girl described it, Squeaky stated that “This is how my brother helps!” as he tried to push Gazelle Girl. However, the movement caused Squeaky to loose control and he jeopardized several riders as he attempted to regain his balance.

None the less, Squeaky seemed truly remorseful and has committed to being a safer rider by not circling in intersections, jumping intersections early, and maintaining his line when he is in a sprint. It is a good reminder to all riders! All riders need to remember that in a group, the slightest movement made without looking can cause major problems. It is all about being safe on this ride!

Minions will not want to miss this week's edition when the Nation heads south once again! Is this a great country or what!?!

It is Shermanator Weekend, so the Old Shark will be giving his “Tour of South Central Kalamazoo County!” After all, Easty wants to collect on his “season pass” for all the sites! Only $.50 cents a look, no change.......

So don't forget your change! The invoice system doesn't seem to be working for the old Shark, so it is back to “Pay as you Go!”

The Nation will also be riding it in style as it will be Tony the Tiger Jersey Day! Yes, you heard that right, Bunkie!

Break out that Tony the Tiger Jersey and bring lots of change for the Sharkman!

Goguac Lake Swim!

Battle Creek, Mi. - Belo News would like to apologize for the delay in getting this next story to the Nation. Though the information was received a week ago, in time for the last edition, the entire staff here at Belo News needed serious psychological counseling after seeing Hoosier Boy without his shirt on. Who knew there could be that much fir on that guys chest!

However, we digress. Both Hoosier Boy and Stroker competed in the Goguac Lake Swim two weeks ago and Stroker brought home the gold in his division! Way to go Minions, you did the Nation proud!

Now, Hoosier Boy, get that shirt back on, we're still having nightmares!

Belo News
July 18, 2015

Shark Cove, Mi. - The Editors at Belo News would like to apologize to the Nation for a misfortunate mistake that was made last week on the distribution of the Shark Minion Update.

The Great Dane showing he
read Belo News!
As those who rode last week are well aware, Sharkman gave a “dressing down” to the peloton for not reading the latest edition of your source for all you cycling needs, Belo News, last week. The old Shark did this when so few riders appeared in their Shark Minion Jersey for Shark Minion Jersey Day. At the time, B-Rod and Gazelle Girl said that they did not receive the “Update.” But Sharkman would hear none of it and continued to harangue the Nation about not reading Belo News.

However, the following day at church, several members of the congregation told our diminutive hero that his email had been hacked.

What?!?

Turns out that the Editors at Belo News (not to be confused with our intrepid hero who NEVER makes a mistake) inadvertently sent last weeks Shark Minion Update to one of our hero's Church Committees by mistake. Sharkman was told that something like “Sharknado,” “Shark Week,” or “Sharkinator” had been sent to them and they all thought it must be a hack. They also commented on where our hero found the time to write “that stuff” up! Oh, the humanity!
Durango Kid was happy to have a map
in front of him on the course!

Needless to say, Sharkman though at first thought he was hacked, realized that it was the Shark Minion Update......

So the Editors apologize for any confusion and of course, Sharkman was not responsible in anyway.......

On, to this weeks edition of Belo News:

Belo News
July 18, 2015

Shark Cove, Mi. - On the eve of our intrepid hero's return to the Nation, he got a call from Yeti Boy.

Sharkman, the Durango Kid is in town and needs a helmet!”

No problem!” replied the Sharkman! Sharkman had just the lid for the President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the mighty Minion Nation, the Durango Kid!

Tanman made his season debut
and took the final sprint!
As dawn broke sunny and warm over the Shark Cove, our intrepid hero was up early, as he had been over to the Klutch the previous evening and found that Michigan Avenue was closed for the new bridge work over I-94 and was unsure if they would be able to get through.

Mad Dog showed up at 6:45 a.m. and Rainman was readying his steed for the ride, sans Shark Minion Jersey. Of course, Sharkman was all over the young rider about not reading Belo News.

When the three got to Michigan avenue, it was still blocked, but the riders could “squeeze” through the “Road Closed” signs and in utter disregard for the law, the three “Bad Boys of the Peloton” rode on to the start.

Since they did not have to detour, the “Bad Boys” got to the start early and watched the riders piling in.

Tanman, was making his season debut and looking pretty smart in some new silver, Giro cycling shoes.

Shortly, the Durango Kid and his brother in law, Yeti Boy pulled in. Yeti Boy had given his Burly to the ride, insuring that he would beat the younger, and vastly better looking Minion on the ride. After donning Sharkman's helmet, that Mad Dog rode over with worried that the Sharkman would kill himself doing it, he posed for the paparazzi.
Oxito was back from his criterium win!
When asked about his red eye he said,
"you should see the other guy!"

Oxito rode in for his first ride since his victory at the Miller Energy Criterium win, needing a bathroom. When told about the “dumpster” he mentioned he would need more than that and was sent to the Klutch, being told to mention Sharkman's name to insure a good “seat” and to remain seated during the entire performance!

After a few photos, and Sharkman's harangue about not reading Belo News, the Nation was ready to rock! To the sound of pedals clicking in, and with the sun shining down on the happy Nation, Sharkman led the peleton out to the Battle Creek Street as Oxito and Gazelle Girl (in her Shark Minion Jersey – she went to Belo News directly after not getting the Update) took up the speed to the Klutch. Sharkman counted 22 riders as they passed the Klutch and Andrew came to the window to make the count.

The pace picked up quickly as a number of Minions battled for the honor of taking our intrepid hero out to the first sprint. In the end, Zychmann came to the front and took our hero out for the sprint!

Sharkman did the count at the first G crossing and confirmed the count at 22. However, shortly after the crossing, Kid Doster jumped on and later, a new, young Minion named Luke, who is now known as PT, jumped on! Welcome to the mighty Minion Nation, PT!
B-Rod claimed he didn't get the Update.
He was right.......

The Nation was in a feisty mood as the barreled through the col de Twin Lakes, Kellogg Korner and the Kountry Klub. As a matter of fact, B-Rod commented that he did not want to jinx the ride but the Nation was over 21 mph on average at the Rt. 43 sprint!

The Nation was all on at the top of the col de Norte and continued on to the Holy Rollers. Tanman and Oxito had opened up a huge gap that the Nation reeled in at the turn at the Kellogg Manor. It was here that the Durango Kid, already slowed by by the Burly bike and a funky water bottle that he was also provided by his brother in law, Yeti Boy, went off course as Yeti Boy made his move!

Yeti Boy, seeing the Durango Kid miss the turn, threw out a flyer and looking like a man possessed, went to the front while the Durango Kid fought to get back to the peloton.

Gaining even more speed and looking like a fly climbing a wall in the Rollers, Yeti Boy went on to take his first sprint as a Minion! Is this a great country or what!?!

At the Digital Divide, the Nation waited with baited breath while Gazelle Girl was readied for the next sprint. Sharkman gave instructions for a double pace line, but it was to no avail. For some reason, it fell apart quickly with smaller groups breaking off. Gazelle Girl was hurried
Counting heads as the Durango Kid
photo bombs the group!
into position on the wheel of Airman, but then disappeared back into the peloton. Sharkman, at the front, pulled off the line and looked back for Gazelle Girl over his right shoulder while Airman was leading her out on his left shoulder, causing her to go over the double yellow lines and putting her win in jeopardy!

However, as the Nation all had a cigarette break at the GGG Spot Sprint after Gazelle Girls triumph, she immediately lodged a protest on the double lines and quickly was granted the win by the Commissioner of cycling.

As the Nation headed south to the final sprint, Hossman went to the front and B-Rod was commenting on how the heat would slow the sprinters. None the less, the Nation stayed in one of the tightest groupings in recent memory!

As the runaway train headed into the final ascent before the finish, they all seemed to be together and the old Shark was getting worried! Rainman took a flyer on the inside and got free, which only caused the nation to quickly respond and he was quickly reeled in as the entire Nation bore down on the finish!
The Klutch was rocking!

In one of the closest finishes in some time, Tanman beat Rainman by a half wheel, followed by Kid Doster! Average speed, 20.3 mph on the day!

The riders zipped up for the sponsors on the Champs le Galesburg as the Tofosi and Paparatzzi went wild as the heros rode to the Klutch.

The Klutch was jumping with fans as the Nation lined up for their bottomless kups and as they told all the foo foo koffee drinkers to move to the back of the line!

The Nation took up three tables as the press tried to interview their favorite riders.

The Durango Kid decided to ride home with Sharkman, Rainman and Wildman, who was trying to build his miles in preparation for the WAM ride the following weekend.
Gazelle Girl celebrating after winning
her sprint protest!

As Wildman dropped off to head back, and the Durango Kid dropped the helmet off at the Shark Cove before heading back to Yeti Boy's, the clouds began to darken.

As Sharkman was safe in the Cove, the sky's opened up and one hell of a monsoon began to fall.

WILDMAN!

Wildman had been on his way back when the storm hit. He was smart enough to find an awning with smokers from EPI in Fort Custer where he stopped to call his wife to come pick him up! Oh, the wet humanity!

What will happen next week!?!

Unfortunately, Sharkman will be absent, but in recognition of the WAM ride, it will be Make a Wish/Team Taylor/Eaton Jersey Day!
Foo Foo drinkers?

To show support to all the WAM riders and for those of you who could not ride, where your WAM jersey's this weekend!

Though Sharkman will again be absent (it has just been one of those summers!) he will be riding with the Nation in his heart!

Saturday, July 25, 2015, WAM Jersey Day!

Launch Time – 8:00 A.M. - SHARP!

CASCO'S ULTIMATE MUD CHALLENGE – AUGUST 1, 2015

Belo News
July 11, 2015

Shark Cove, Mi. - So, what happened last Saturday in the peloton, you might ask?

Unfortunately, Belo News doesn't know because the News Room only received one report from the Nation.

Ace Reporter and legendary rider, Dr. Dave reported in that Gazelle Girl, the “Sweetheart of the Peloton” had broken a rear wheel and decided to ride a 1949 Vintage Indian Motorcycle. However, subsequent investigative efforts revealed that though she did actually break a wheel, she rode a back up bike and the motorcycle was actually parked at the Queen's Grill (that the Nation knows as “Frona's”) and they took the opportunity to take the photo. Mad Dog had quickly began preparing a protest on her attendance record on a motorcycle but just as quickly, withdrew the protest when he learned she was actually on a bike.

It was also learned that there were approximately 20 riders last week and that is all that was reported.

Obviously, the Nation needs the Sharkman to return!

Oh, the humanity!

And return he will!

Easty's note and check for the "Tour of

July 13, 2015

Shark Cove, Mi. - When our intrepid hero returned from his California visit with his Sharklet's, he was pleased when he opened his mail and found a check, made out to Sharkman, in the amount of $20 from none other than Easty! Easty, who was amazed at the amount of sites on Sharkman's totally awesome “Tour of Central Kalamazoo County,” had submitted the check for a season pass on the sites! Oh, the humanity!

Sharkman has finally collected! It is reported that he considered cashing the check, but since he does not have an identification card that has his Sharkman name on it, thought that might be difficult. Besides, he is planning to frame this baby as a testament to his entrepreneurial acumen in the world of cycling! Thanks, Easty, you made the Sharkman's day!

Sharkman would like to remind all that it is only $20 for a season pass to see all the sites on the occasional “Tour of Central Kalamazoo County” so save up those dollars and get a check to our intrepid hero as quickly as you can! Summer will soon be over!

July 10, 2015

Walnut Creek, Ca. - It seemed like anyone who is anyone in the mighty Minion Nation was wild with anticipation for the new Minion Movie. After all, what could be better than a movie about the mighty Minion Nation. Sharkman, also wild with anticipation, took four of his sharklets to see it, sure that they would enjoy watching a movie about creatures that adore their grandpa Shark.

Imagine his disappointment to learn that this movie was in fact, about some other Minions!?! What the........

Despite his disappointment, Sharkman could be heard to be giggling and laughing with his Sharklets through out the movie and as a matter of fact, it kicked butt at the box office, though we suspect that is because so many of the Nation went to see it as well!
