Galesburg, Mi. - As dawn broke warm and bright over the Shark Cove, our intrepid hero, the Sharkman, was again sleeping in. A Shark could get use to this sleeping in thing!

As he mounted his Shark Motorcycle a bit early, he thought that since it was such a beautiful morning, he would ride out to meet the Nation along the route!

He immediatlely set out on County MN to 36th Street and headed south thinking the Nation should be heading north toward the finish. However, as he approached the road into Scotts, no Minions?

Mmmmm.....had he missed them?

The Old Shark headed into Scotts and again, no Minions. Thinking he had missed them when they crossed MN before the finish, he immediately turned around and headed for the Klutch. It was almost 9:30 a.m so he was sure he had missed the peloton.

However, as he approached the Klutch, no bikes......

When he walked in and ordered his Bottomless, he was told the riders had gone by but had not come in for their koffee yet......

As he checked his iPhone, he noticed a text from Yeti Boy time stamped at 9:14 a.m. of the start, which really confused the old Shark......what the heck?

Shortly, the Nation pulled up to the Klutch and explained that they ran a little late, and that Yeti Boy and Reb had ridden to the start and had then pealed off to head home after Qman Hill just outside of town.

The Nation stated that the ride was very mellow, with a more managable 16 riders. Nikeboy led the Nation, but did not seem to know where all the “Major Landmarks and Attractions” were located. So the Nation didn't even have to pay for the ride! (wait a minute......) Thus, a more relaxing ride, though the pace was still a good one.

Again, no one wrote up a rider report this week, so you have to read about Sharkman's motorcycle ride for Saturday morning koffee! Oh, the humanity!

But the Sharkman will be returning soon!

But what about this weekend?

It is the 4th of July and you won't want to miss the Red, White & Blue Kit ride in celebration of our country's independence!

Saturday, July 2, 2016 – Red, White & Blue Kit Day! Put on your best Red, White & Blue and show your patriotism!

B GROUP STARTING SOON?

Belo News
June 29, 2016

Shark Cove, Mi. - With Sharkman's return to cycling, he knows he will need some time go to get back into shape! Additionally, for years the Nation has talked about starting a B Group.

Depending on Sharkman's progress, a B Group will be announced soon to help Sharkman get back into shape and will be open to other riders who might want to do a slower pace. It is hoped that the B Group will continue going forward.

The concept would be to start the B Group 15-20 minutes ahead of the A Group with the hope the two groups would finish close to the same time. The head start would be adjusted to insure that happens.

This group would also allow beginners to jump into the A group if they so desired. So standby for mor information on the B Group, coming soon!

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS STRYKER GUY THIS WEEK?

Stryker Guy at Bear Tooth Pass!

Bear Tooth Pass, Mt. - This week, we hear from that Legend of the Peloton, Stryker Guy, aka Cover Girl, as he continues his trek across this great country! Stryker Guy checked in with Belo News after a bad day of head winds caused the group to have to sag in for the evening as he was quoted as stating, “it was the best $80 we ever spent!” Apparently after fighting 40-50 mph head winds, it was decided the better part of valor was discretion.

However, all was forgotten as a day or two later, he checked in from Bear Tooth Pass in Montana, where the elevation was 10,970 ft! Way to go, Stryker Guy! You're taking that Shark Minion Jersey to higher and higher elevations!

You can follow, and leave comments, for our hero at the following website;
Sagging in! Best move, EVER!

TUESDAY NIGHT ROUTE CHANGE?

Belo News
June 29, 2016

Battle Creek, Mi. - Tuesday Night ride Commissioner, Rainman, put out a notice for the Tuesday Night Chain Gang Riders. It appears that the section of M96 east bound from 37th to G Ave. in Augusta has really deteriorated. Therefore, he is recommending some route changes. Riders wishing to do this ride should contact Rainman to make sure you are on his ride distribution, as the ride does not always launch!

Attached is his announcement!

NOTICE TO TUESDAY MINIONS: I know Minions don't do well with change, but as the Self-Appointed Commissioner of Tuesday Nights, I've been evaluating a re-route for a section of the ride. I know, I know, you love the route; it’s fast, largely flat, and fun. However, M96 Eastbound (the road we turn onto after passing the Galesburg High School) has deteriorated as of late and has become a bit [more] unsafe. Gravel and holes are abundant, and a safe shoulder to ride on has become increasingly harder to come by. SO, if you ride this evening and want to take the regularly scheduled route, please continue to exercise caution.
HOWEVER, Rainman doesn’t leave the Minions hanging and would propose either of the following routes:
OPTION 1
· Same starting route until you get to Augusta
· Make a RIGHT onto 42nd street (first right as you pass the SHELL Station in Augusta) and take that all the way to M89.
· Climb the short hill on M89
· Continue on M89 to 37th Street; make a LEFT onto 37th (head South past the Gull Lake View golf course)
· Continue on 37th; make a LEFT onto G Ave (east)
· Connect back up to M96 (east) and head back into Augusta to complete the normal route
OR

OPTION 2
· Same starting route until you get to Augusta
· Make a RIGHT onto 42nd street (first right as you pass the SHELL Station in Augusta) and take that all the way to M89.
· Climb the short hill on M89
· Continue on M89 to 40th Street; make a RIGHT onto 40th
· Take 40th to C Ave; make a RIGHT onto C Ave (east)
· Take C Ave (east) to 48th Street; turn RIGHT onto 48th Street to connect back up to the end of the ride on Michigan Ave
If you do choose either of these routes tonight, please report back on the distance and fun-level.

WISHBONE UPDATE!

SOUTHERN ROUTE THIS WEEKEND!

SAVE THE DATE ANNOUNCED FOR THE BLOODY 'ELL 'UNDRED!

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS STRYKER GUY?

BANJOVI LIVE AT RIVERSIDE GOLF CLUB JULY 15, 2016!

Belo News
June 18, 2016

Shark Cove, Mi. - As dawn broke over the Shark Cove, our intrepid hero, the Sharkman, was sound asleep. Being on the DL (disabled list) has afforded the old Shark some shark pillow time that he fears he is getting way too use to!

After reading the paper, having a couple of kups of koffee, and eating cereal out of his Tony the Tiger bowl, he stoked up his beloved Kawasaki Vulcan Classic and rode over to the Klutch to check in with his beloved Minion Nation.

Knowing about the bridge construction at the Eaton Plant, our hero took the back roads on this very beautiful June morning. The Sharkman headed out on Watkins to Skyline, then dropped down to County MN to head over to 36th Street so that he could scout out the roads, as this coming week the Nation will be doing the South Route due to the Gull Lake Triathlon.

Gazelle Girl giving the safety talk before the ride!
As he headed down Qman Hill, he saw a lone rider who looked vaguely familiar.

It was none other than Nikeboy, who had broke off the Minion ride to scout out the Southern Route for this weeks edition! Reporting in to Sharkman later, he stated he is all set to lead the route and is like maybe 80% sure he knows the route!

But does he know all the world famous sites and how much will he be charging? Minions will have to ride this weekend to find out!

After arriving at the Klutch, getting his bottomless and booting up his iPad, our intrepid hero sat down and took in the ambience of his preferred Saturday morning haunt!

Right on schedule, a sea of Minions began to arrive! Lining up for koffee, the crew started piling around their hero, full of stories of the ride (though no one actually WROTE a story this week - however, Cyclo Cross did send an email stating he had led out Ironman for the finishing sprint, but Ironman didn't take the ride!).

It was reported that the count for the ride was 31 riders! There were also concerns about the lack of discipline in the peloton and the need for some reminders!

SAFETY REMINDERS FROM THE SHARKMAN HIZZSELF!

So listen up Minions!

  1. With the large summer crowds, the number of riders creates safety issues in and of itself, and when someone shouts out “Car back!” that means riders need to get to the right as soon as possible and no more than two abreast! We need to be mindful of drivers and so far, they have been very patient with us. However, as we cause problems for them, we may not be as welcome on our beloved KK-TdG. So when you hear “Car back!” move over and get two abreast!
  2. Likewise, no one should EVER go over the yellow center lines! Particularly in the Holy Roller section where cars cannot see riders as they come over the hill. No crossing the double yellow lines!
  3. Our credo has always been “We leave no Minions behind!” but reports are coming in that riders are not waiting at the top of the Col de Twin Lakes and at the Frona Feed Stop. Though we have occassionally and unintentionally left a rider behind, we WAIT at all Stop Signs AND at the top of the Col de Norte! There is no such thing as a “rolling stop.”
  4. While we are at it, when we stop, we need to be as far right as possible to let vehicles pass and no circling in the interesections! At the top of the Col de Norte, please stop, get to the right and wait for the “All On!” call out.
  5. At the Digital Divide, the Nation needs to make sure it is a safe crossing. If all riders cannot go across at the same time, riders must wait for any stragglers to get across before moving on.

We do not want anymore riders hurt and we do not want to alienate drivers in the Gull Lake area as they have been extremely patient with our parade of riders each week.

SO BE CAREFUL OUT THERE AND WATCH OUT FOR EACH OTHER!

NUFF SAID!

Thank you Sharkman for those profound words of guidance!

Wishbone.....
WISHBONE UPDATE!

Belo News
June 22, 2016

Kalamazoo, Mi. - It is reported that Wishbone (Paul Gobble) continues to improve, but it will be a slow process. He is still not able to remember the accident and he has good days and not so good days. He is not up for any visitors as it causes over stimulation and at this point he needs rest to heal.

He has been moved to the Mary Free Bed and he is able to eat but is still unable to stand on his own and is using a walker.

The family is very appreciative of all the offers of help and if you do want to provide food or other assistance, the best way to do that is through the Gobble Families church.

The Richland Presbyterian Church is coordinating food for the family. If you are interested, you can contact the church to learn what may be needed and how you can help.

For those of you who rode on Saturday, Gazelle Girl has a card that has been signed and will be delivered to Wishbone soon.

Please keep Wishbone and his family in your thoughts and prayers, as well as all those who were involved in the incident.

TWENTY MINIONS ON THE KK-TdG!

STRYKER GUY GOING CROSS COUNTRY!

BANJOVI ROCKS THE HOUSE!

NEW TUESDAY NIGHT RECORD!

SHARK MINION JERSEY DAY THIS SATURDAY!

Stryker Guy/Cover Girl

Galesburg, Mi. - As dawn broke over Gull Lake??!!

What’s this?
This weeks's celebrity writer!
Stryker Guy/Cover Girl

Not the Shark Cove?

Well, the guest writer does not live at or near the Shark Cove, so that’s where dawn broke—enough!

Stryker Guy (Cover Girl) was looking for friends to ride down to the launch point and found Luke Kujacznski to pull him to the start.

A flat tire just before 36th street almost derailed us, but Luke quickly jumped in and got us/me back on track.

Just because he could, Luke pulled like a farm mule to put us on the last Minion wheel before the first climb. Thank You!

The Nation was twenty strong, with the usual suspects, Hoosier Boy, Zyckmann, Yeti Boy etc. and with BRod and Skittles pushing the pace early. Squeaky squeaked his way out of the pack to claim the first sprint uncontested. The boys and the bell of the peloton, Gazelle Girl, were pretty frisky (to this reporter) as the pace quickened and generally didn’t let up (+20mph average).

Wildman (Pete Townsend) was right up in front at the Col de Twin Lakes, showing that rock stars can bounce back after a huge concert the night before. Rain Man was in the lead pack in spite of the fact that it was a bit cloudy and a few drops of rain actually hit the pavement during the ride. (for the record, no rain gear came out in spite of the four drops of rain).

Mad Dog sporting the Pink Jersey in honor of the Giro d’Italia, was leading the nation through the county club rollers. B-Rod said the lead group hit 34mph through this section. Zyckmann showed fine form on the stretch to the top of M-43 as he get ready for his Big Greek Holiday this week.

Ironman, Easty, Ranger Rick, Kid Doster, pushed the pace through the Holy Rollers and Rainman suggested breakfast at Frona’s??

Believe it or not!!! The Nation actually performed a proper pace line (yes Sharkman it happened) all the way from M-89 to the G-Spot (is that what we call it?) Gazelle Girl easily took the sprint.
The final section was characteristically fast and furious.

A couple guys in Clark Logic kits, in orange helmet's, got things moving early and it never let up. The winners were so far ahead of me all I can tell you is a couple guys on bikes battled it out near the stop sign and someone won.

The gang settled in for coffee and to hear about the concert from the Sharkman, who was busy signing T-Shirts for local Galesburg groupies.

Zyckmann had actually stopped in earlier and pre-purchased the Nation's koffee, including our intrepid hero, the Sharkman's! Is this a great country or what?!?

THANK YOU ZYCKMANN!

I know I missed some names and I apologize to anyone I left out.

Respectfully,
SG

See you in August!

My blog site will be up in about a week slowoldnstupid.com

Stay tuned!

Editors Note – Wow, another great write up! Can these Minions write or what?!?

We will miss Stryker Guy/Cover Girl as he heads cross country! (see next story) But the Nation will hold his spot in the peloton for his return!

Great Dane, Sharkman & Wildman rock the Klutch
May 27, 2016

Galesburg, Mi. - As the world now knows, Banjovi rocked the house at their debut concert at the Koffee Klutch in downtown Galesburg!

Playing to a packed house, with several of their groupies, aka Banjovi's Witnesses, in attendance, the audience was captivated by song and stories!

It was a night of ukulele infused Blue Grass that included Elton Grass AND Bon Jovi Grass!

As one critic put it, “Sheer entertainment! First time I've ever heard “Rocket Man,” Don't Stop Believin,” “Livin' On A Prayer” and “Old Time Rock n Roll” with a guitar, banjo & ukulele!

Great job Banjovi!”

Great job indeed! The audience sang, laughed and really got into the act and rumor has it that they will be back in July! If you missed this concert, you won't want to miss the next one! Oh, the humanity! Stay tuned for upcoming concert dates for Banjovi and you too, can become a Banjovi Witness!

NEW TUESDAY NIGHT RECORD!

Belo News
May 31, 2016

Battle Creek, Mi. - Well, it finally happened! The Tuesday Night Chain Gang group worked together to break the two year old season average speed record this past Tuesday night.

Not only did they break it, but they shattered the previous record of 21.7 mph set in the summer of 2011 by turning in an average speed of 22.4 mph! Oh, the humanity!

The team of Tow Truck, Rainman, Hossman and Mad Dog worked together to blast the previous record out of the record books!

Rainman reported that Mad Dog was on fire and pushed the group to the record!
