Shark Cove, Mi. - As dawn broke wet over the Shark Cove, our intrepid hero, still recovering from the “Mother of all Colds,” dragged his little dorsal from his shark bed. As he padded his way to the Shark Radar, he could hear the rain on the roof. Sure enough, as our hero looked at the radar the Skittle colored screen reflected off of his cold pasty face. Rain everywhere!

The Old Shark decided to go back to bed and reset the alarm for one hour later.

The hour went by quickly, but the Shark got up once again and could still hear the rain falling on the Shark Cove roof. When he got to the radar screen it was lit up like a Christmas Tree.

For the first time in quite a while, the old Shark had to give up and call the ride......oh, the humanity!

However despondent, he had no problem going back to bed and sleeping until 9:30 a.m. and realized how nice it is to sleep in on a rainy Saturday morning!

However, a number of Minions expressed disappointment in not being able to ride the now famous, “Tour of Central Kalamazoo County” with the Sharkman and had saved their quarters and dimes to pay for the sight seeing tour.

Therefore, by popular request AND due to the fact that Sharkman will be gone on Saturday, July 4, our hero has declared a double header for this weekend!

You heard that right Bunkie!

Two rides for the price of one!

GAZELLE GIRL RESPONDS TO ALLEGATIONS!

Belo News

Galesburg, Mi. - Not to be denied justice, Gazelle Girl, also known as “The Sweetheart of the Peloton” fought back concerning her directional and map reading skills. Feeling slighted by Mr. Anonymous Reporter, Gazelle Girl had a simple response, capsulized in this illustration.

Fort Custer, MI. - after 4 weeks of delay, the Monday afternoon mountain bike group finally got to ride AND celebrate Gazelle Girls Birthday! Is this a great country or what!  This "special event" had been delayed due to rain, though Sharkman thought it had been delayed so that he could be there!  Reb supplied the beer and after a ride through the Red trail,

the group had a beer to celebrate the Sweetheart of the Peloton's special day!

Tow Truck and Luke Skywalker in Santa Fe!

While Sharkman was sleeping in and the Nation rested from the rain, other Minions were out and about, riding for the Nation! (Does this mean the Nation has gone another Saturday without a rain out?).

Santa Fe, NM. - First up, Tow Truck and son, Luke Skywalker, were tearing up the trails out in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sharkman's winter training grounds! After doing the famous Dale Ball Trail, they took their rented rides back to the bike shop and exchanged them for road bike and did some road riding! Way to go Minions!

Catfish and Dreamboat on a sunny
Saturday Morning in
Northern Michigan!

Mackinaw, MI. - Secondly, Dreamboat and Catfish reported in on Saturday that they were riding to the Bridge and had done 320 miles with only 120 left to the Bridge! Rock on Minions!

Oxito takes second in the final sprint!

Grand Rapids, Mi. - Finally, our own Oxito (son of legendary rider, Ox) competed in the Herman Miller Brickyard Crit on Saturday and controlled the race for most of the ride and only lost it by a tire on the final sprint!

Way to go Oxito! You did the Nation (and your Dad) proud!

THE SHARKMAN RETURNS FROM THE NORTH!

SOUTHERN ROUTE THIS SATURDAY DUE TO THE GULL LAKE TRI!
Sharkman & Lava Girl rock the Klondike!

MAP CHALLENGED MINIONS AT THE TOUR de TAYLOR?

DR. DAVE ROCKS THE M22 CHALLENGE!

Belo News
June 24, 2015

Shark Cove, Mi. - Your intrepid hero, the Sharkman, has returned from Alaska and the Yukon territory where he is rumoured to have conquered the North! The man, the myth, the legend rocked the Klondike, mostly with a demonstration of his drinking and eating skills! He has lots to tell the Nation! Suffice it to say, he had a freaking BLAST!

Sharkman drinks his "Sourtoe Cocktail!"
You'll need to ask him about this!
However, our hero also returned with one kick ass cold he has been fighting all week and it can only be hoped he is back to his beloved Nation this Saturday! The old Shark has stated he will be there to ride or drink koffee and hopefully both. He will surely be leading a B group this week that might actually start earlier (we can only see if that works).

Saturday, June 27, 2015

Launch Time – 8:00 A.M. - Sharp!

Due to the Gull Lake Tri, Sharkman will be leading the Nation on his famous "Tour of Central Kalamazoo County" complete with all the sights and sounds of this scenic country.  This year, the Nation will pass through the epicenter of the now famous, Earth Quake of 2015! And for this weekend only, Sharkman will only charge $1 to see this, now famous landmark! Is this a great country or what?!?

Be there!

What has gone on since our hero left town, you ask?

Belo News, which never rests from in-depth reporting on the cycling scene, and in particular, the Nations adventures (or misadventures) received two write ups from investigative reporters this past week, though the first reporter asked to remain anonymous (reasons will be obvious to the readers of the story).

MAP CHALLENGED MINIONS AT THE TOUR de TAYLOR?

Belo News
June 13, 2015
The "on time" Minion Nation at the Tour de Taylor!
(those not photographed were late!)

Mattawan, Mi. - (Note to Belo News): The group agreed not to admit to some of the following, so the writing skills as an editor will be needed to protect this Minion's anonymity as the source. And no matter what any other reporter submits, this report is much more accurate and reliable. I think they try to protect her reputation since she's the sweetheart of the peloton and all.)

She still reads a map like a girl!

The power and sway of the Sharkman was evident from the beginning of the day as the Sweetheart of the Peloton made her driver, Mad Dog drive all the way to her house to pick her up, where last year, not wanting to burden our leader, she rode over to the highway to meet Sharkman.

After being derided for arriving a few minutes early (Sharkman never complains when Mad Dog is early) and receiving extensive instruction on how to greet Gazelle Girl's Cujo like dog (not as issue at the Cove), Mad Dog was quickly wishing Sharkman present and driving.

Ironman was joining them on the drive over and was a tad bit late (tardiness seems more rampant when Sharkman is absent) due to an excessive evening, however, it should be noted he was the only one with the clarity of mind to remember the group photo.

Only 13 minions made the photo, but the group included a couple more who arrived late. (more late Minions! Where is Sharkman when you need him?)

The group headed out on the muggy, misty morning, confident that between Gazelle Girl's map and the well marked course, an uneventful ride awaited them. Now no one is sure if the problem was with Gazelle Girl's map reading skills, or the misting and fogging of the glasses resulting in a missed marker, or the nation riding without their leader (probably), but not too long into the ride Easty mentioned the Nation was heading back into Mattawan. Sure enough, after being assured by Gazelle Girl to just follow the arrows, the Nation ended up back at the start after only fifteen or so miles.

Oh the humanity!

After some discussion, it was decided to take a short cut over to the first sag, pick the 100k route back up, not allow Gazelle Girl to navigate the rest of the day, and not speak of the inability of the Nation to function without it's leader.

The nation made it back to the last sag realizing they didn't need to complete the last loop of the 100k route (which was ridden earlier in the day) to reach their 100k goal. With Easty's directional discernment once again on display, he quickly devised a route back to the start which would allow the Nation to say they completed 100k.

At the post ride meal it was decided the only ride the Nation is capable of completing correctly, without their leader, is the KK-TdG.

Editors Note: Nice write up, completely anonymous reporter! Hopefully the Sharkman will be back next year to insure punctuality AND direction! Well done Minions, you made the Nation proud.....well, sort of........

Dr. Dave Rocks the M22!
June 13, 2015
Reporter Dr. Dave

Glen Arbor, MI. - Options abound for those who choose to be active on the 2nd Saturday of June in Michigan. The Tour de Taylor, Michigan Mountain Mayhem, North Country Trail relay and of course the M22 Challenge.

Close to 900 participants this year enjoyed a scenic run, bike, kayak totaling 22 miles on and around Big and Little Glenn Lakes.

The event begins with a quick 2.5 mi trail run that includes the main dune climb at Sleeping Bear. Word to the wise - pretend to be special and go with the first wave rather than the 4th or 5th as age would have it.

From the transition area riders pedal 17 miles Clockwise around Big and Little Glenn lakes. Passing through the heart of Glenn Arbor before heading South and the half mile climb to Inspiration Point. If the dune climb did not separate the wheat from the chaff, here was another opportunity. Road bikes tended to do better than tri bikes in this section, but the descent evened things back out.

49 minutes on the bike completed this leg and it was time to paddle. By this time winds out of the East were raising 1-2 ft chop. Some of the typically fast Epic surf skis had difficulty in
Kayak's at the ready!
the rougher conditions. One of the Team Hagerty boys who beat me last year went swimming. He was able to gather his paddle and life jacket but by then his boat was blowing away. His misfortune and my wife's seaworthy 18'6" Wilderness Systems Extreme combined with the only Inuit blade on course carried me through the chop and surfed me home to finish the 2.5 mi paddle in approx 24 minutes and first in my age group.

Total time 1:28:00
19th overall. 1st in the 45-50 age group.

I would recommend this destination race to anyone looking for a reason to visit Leelanau or do a Tri sin swim.

Dr. Dave

Editors Note: Great job, Dr. Dave, you did the Nation proud! Seriously!

WAM JERSEY DAY HUGE SUCCESS!

RAINMAN TAKES IT GOING AWAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE SWEET HEART OF THE PELOTON! OH, AND TO RAINMAN TOO.......

UPCOMING SCHEDULE OF EVENTS IN THE NATION!

Belo News
June 6, 2015

Shark Cove, Mi. - As dawn broke crisp and cool over the Shark Cove, we find our intrepid hero fussing over his wide haberdashery of Team Taylor/Wam Jersey's, trying to determine which one he will look best wearing on this very special jersey day. Of course, as his loyal Minion Nation is fully aware, he looks damn good in all of them, but he is a fussy Shark, to
Almost all the riders with WAM/Team Taylor/
Eaton Jerseys. Couldn't fit them all in!
say the least. After all, one of the well known credo's of the Nation is “if you can't be good, look good!” And the old Shark wants to look good!

His first Saturday text was from Mad Dog stating he would see his hero on the roads, so Sharkman pulled on his arm warmers, got his bike ready and as he launched noticed Rainman's garage door open. Rain had not been forecasted until at least Sunday afternoon, so it was a sure bet the young Minion would be along for the ride!

As Sharkman waited, Nikeboy rode up and the three headed to the start.

As they crossed Helmer, they saw Mad Dog approach and he mentioned that there was a rider coming up from behind the threesome. Thinking it was Reb, the group slowed to allow
Minions everywhere! They just kept coming!
the rider to latch on. However, it was not Reb but a Tri rider, dressed in sleeveless “tri” jersey that, to the four Minions, looked a bit chilly. Apparently he was training for a tri, as he said “good morning....” and rode on past the four Minions.

The start was abuzz with activity as the four rode in. Riders just kept piling in as singles but also in large groups like the Gull Lake contingent, followed by quite a crew from Team Taylor who were bringing several “virgin Minions” to the ride! Even “the Promise” was there without promising to be there!

An assortment of WAM jersey's!
Dragon fly in one from last year!
In the mix of Team Taylor virgins were, TJ Seiwert (aka MC Slammer), Matt Gunderson (aka Sparkles) and Meg Zapalowski (now known as Zippy's Wench which Iceman just made up – hey, it's better than some of the names Team Taylor suggested!). Welcome to the mighty Minion Nation, Minion virgins!

Though Sharkman asked Minions to let him know should Gazelle Girl ride in behind him, they once again missed her entrance as she approached the start with Toesetter, riding in with the warm, rising sun at her back.

Belo News did it's best to get photos of new and virgin Minions as they came in, as well as some returning Minions, but there were just too many riders to keep up!

After the WAM jersey riders posed for photos, which Ranger Rick was kind enough to take, Sharkman acknowledged Team Taylor and the Eaton's Teams involvement in the ride, as well as the upcoming Tour de Taylor next weekend.
Virgin Minion Zippy's Wench!

After some safety instructions (as the Nation knows, Sharkman frets over safety and large crowds!) Sharkman lead the Nation out and gave up attempting to take a count, knowing other riders might jump on anytime before and even after the first sprint.

B-Rod led the Sharkman out for the first part of the run up to the first sprint and then Ranger Rick took over. After taking the speed up, Ranger Rick started to pull aside and Sharkman told him he had to pull the whole way if he wanted to get his name in the blog!

Sharkman took the sprint with Toesetter breathing down his dorsal in support of our hero's effort.

Sharkman took the “Official Count” at the first G. Ave crossing and the number was 41! Oh, the humanity! Belo News could not confirm rumors that other riders joined on after the Official Count was taken, however suffice it to say, it was a major turnout and close to a record!
Another virgin Minion, but we don't know
which on he is!

At the G. Ave crossing, Gazelle Girl decided to take off her jacket to remove the sleeves to make it into a vest. She suggested that Sharkman hold the Nation but it was too late as they began crossing and the old Shark started counting. Sharkman waited with Gazelle Girl before launching after the peloton had left and the two had to fight to get back on the tail end of the fast moving train.

The two did catch on at the base of the Col de Twin Lakes, but then had to struggle to get up the hill after their chase effort.

The nation came together at the top, where Mad Dog made a breakaway to take the sprint.

With the large number of riders, the speed picked up considerably in the Kountry Klub section with two of the Team Taylor riders leading through Kellogg Korner and then Airman and Sharkman taking over for a while. At the turn after the Kountry Klub the speed picked up again and a cast of thousands came around to contest the sprint where Mad Dog and Skittles in the grips of an epic battle that saw them cross the finish sprint too close to call (at least from where Sharkman was!)!
Yet another unknown virgin
Minion! They were everywhere!

At the top of the Rt. 43 sprint, Sharkman noticed a new Minion and welcomed him to the Nation. It turned out that he had was from Australia and was in town doing work for General Motors for a couple of weeks and learned of the ride from Dreamboat! So, amongst the Minions was an International Celebrity Rider who was quickly named “Croc!” Yeah, the Nation isn't very original at times though it may have been due to oxygen depletion after the Rt. 43 sprint......

The nation rode under the “Caution Flag” on Rt. 43 to the Col de Norte, where again, the Nation was great about staying to the right.

Sharkman made sure (as best he could) that everyone was on and/or accounted for and gave the go ahead. With so many Team Taylor Jersey's and riders it was hard to know who was and who wasn't still there!  He then entered a discussion about his upcoming trip to Alaska with Tow Truck and before he knew it, he was a bit off the back. Again, he had to ride his little dorsal off to get back on the train! It ain't easy being responsible for the Nation!
B-Rod in his WAM jersey with
neon green socks! Oh, the humanity!

The Nation rode through the Holy Rollers, Frona's Feed Station and on to the Inlet and across the Digital Divide.

The Nation formed up several pace lines as they moved down to the GGG Sprint Spot. A group of Minions took Gazelle Girl to the front early with many Minions shouting, “don't get her too excited to fast!”

However, just before things really picked up, Dreamboat came by with a group behind him, including Zippy's Wench and it was moving fast. On the inside, Yeti Boy and others hit some errant rocks, causing Yeti Boy to have a blow out, and slowing the group that included Gazelle Girl. She hates being stopped in mid effort!

Meanwhile, Dreamboat and some of the Team Taylor riders took Zippy's Wench to the take the sprint!

Luckily, the Nation had Team Active Mechanic, Skittles in the mix and he made very quick work of Yeti Boy's tire as the Nation waited at the GGG crossing. It gave Sharkman time to make, yet another appeal to the Nation to be safe on the finish.
Wildman and the Great Dane showing off their
Eaton WAM Jerseys!

As the fast moving train headed south, Sharkman was fretting again about the group. This week the Nation was so fast from the get go that Sharkman was unable to ride up to the front to caution everyone. Mad Dog, throwing himself on his sword, went forward and stretched out the peloton as everyone held on as best they could.

As the Nation crested the final hill before the finishing sprint, Rainman took a flyer and shot from the peloton with two Team Taylor riders responding to the attack!

Rainman fought to hold off the counter attack to take the tape and because there were

and, multi colored shoes! The man

so many Team Taylor Jersey's, it could not be determined who the second and third place finisher were, other than they Team Taylor riders!

So Sharkman declared himself the second and third place finisher! Is this a great country or what?!? Hey, he had a Team Taylor Jersey on!

As the Nation slowed down and headed towards the Champs le Galesburg, Sharkman had yet, another flat rear tire. Again, Skittles was right there and it was actually fun to watch him change our hero's tire in less time than it takes for a Minion to down a beer! Which is pretty damn fast!

Rainman, feeling good after his win, bought our hero's koffee and celebrity guests Cloud Girl, Airman and their daughter, Maddie and Tardette and her and Rainman's daughter Lauren, aka Rain Drop, were in attendance for Koffee!

Sharkman sat with the International Celebrity Rider from Australia who had been named Croc and then led the Nation in a roaring verse of Happy Birthday for the Sweetheart of the Peloton, Gazelle Girl. After the very moving rendition of the old favorite, Tardette mentioned it was also Rainman's Birthday, so the Nation again sang for the day's winner! The Klutch was rocking and little Maddie took a particular liking to the Pirate (yeah, we know, hard to figure) who entertained her as her Mom and Dad signed autographs for the tofosi.

As Sharkman had stated earlier, “it was a magical day in the kindgom!”
International Celebrity Rider from
Australia, Croc! Welcome to
the Nation Croc!

Thankfully, the Old Shark had young Rainman to pull him home to the Cove as the wind came out of the east at a pretty good clip. It was a very good day, indeed and the Sharkman gave thanks for all of his mighty Nation as he reflected on a great morning of riding with friends!

Big thanks to the Team Taylor riders who have come out in numbers this season, as well as all of the Nation that makes these rides so much fun. Special thanks to Nikeboy and Hoosier Boy for helping keep watch over those Minions who fall behind (with this many riders it can be difficult to keep track of everyone!) and to Skittles for his amazing mechanical skills! What a mighty Minion Nation!

All for one and all for the Sharkman!

As announced on Saturday, Sharkman will be gone for the next two weeks but the Nation will ride!

Cloud Girl, Maddie and Airman at the Press Conference!
Next Saturday, the Koffee Klutch Tour de Gull is suspended (yes, we advised Andrew) while the Nation rides the Tour de Taylor! The Nation should wear their Shark Minion kit and meet near the start between 7-7:30 a.m. for a group launch!

Hopefully, someone will get a photo!

Saturday, June 21, 2015 the Nation returns to the KK-TdG with an 8:00 a.m launch!

The Sharkman will not be in attendance (oh, the humanity!) but expects the Nation to ride safe and watch out for one another!

Airman and Fat Tire. His last Tuesday
Night Ride? (See story in "In other
News!")
Shark Cove, Mi. - As dawn broke damp over the Shark Cove, we find our intrepid hero dashing out of his Shark Bed and running to check the Shark Radar. Always the optimist, particularly on Saturday Mornings, his first thought was, “there is rain out there, but it could roll below us and leave us dry.” After all, the Weather Bug had reported no rain until around 11 a.m. when the old Shark would historically be back at the Cove after a great, dry ride of 53 miles!
It was also Beer Jersey Day, and Sharkman hates to miss any “Jersey” day, especially “Beer Jersey Day!”

Donning his Schlitz retro jersey, he noticed a text from Mad Dog that had come in at 6:12 a.m. stating, “I'll see you on the road!”

Sharkman launched in dry air at 7:00 a.m. sans Rainman. After all, there was a “threat” of rain and he is, “The Rainman”. As our hero rode out he found Reb heading towards him and when he got to Sharkman he stated, “where is your entourage this morning? Threat of rain?”
Yeti Boy and Full Sail Brewing!

Sharkman replied that Mad Dog was getting extra miles in and just as he was explaining that to Reb, Mad Dog rode towards them, coming over the hill near the Animal Shelter.

As the three rode over they discussed how they all believed the rain would hold off until after the ride. They also wondered how many riders would show with the threat of rain.

As they arrived at the start, they found a number of riders coming in and getting ready for the ride.

As the Minions gathered, the first drops of rain began to fall.......wait, …...what?

Of course, Sharkman was unique in his Schlitz Retro Jersey, but there were other unique jersey's such as Zychmann's Right Brain Brewing, Airman in his Fat Tire Brewery, Yeti Boy with a Full Sail Beer, Tie Die sporting an Alpine Beer Company, and somehow, Toast and Easty got confused with Toast wearing a wine jersey and Easty thinking it was Drug Jersey Day!
Zychmann and Right Brain Brewery!

Is this a great country or what?!

There were also a ton of Oberon jerseys of all kinds, with Toesetter, Boatman, Hoosier Boy, B-Rod, and Greyhound all sporting the iconic brand of beer from Bell's.

Gazelle Girl rode in as the press was taking photos and the Nation did not get a chance to shout out her name.....! Oh, the humanity!

Also in attendance were Iceman, Chains the Bounty Hunter who had both ridden over from Mattawan, the Great Dane and Dragonfly was back for more action this week!
As Sharkman called out the start, the rain started to fall in earnest, but not hard. That was the way it would be for most of the ride, as the rain was steady, but more of a drizzle than an outright rain. It was later reported by Reb, who had to head back home after the start, that it poured on his way back to Battle Creek and later, Rainman reported that he tried to ride and got caught in the same downpour! (Wait.....what? Rainman went out in the rain anyway? What's that all about?).
Tie Dye and Alpine Beer Company!

Andrew came out to take the count of 20 riders as they passed the Klutch and later, Dr. Dave in his Oberon Jersey, joined on making it 21 riders on the morning, not bad considering the weather and the fact that Iceman and Chains the Bounty Hunter had ridden over from Mattawan!

As the Nation headed north, the rain picked up a bit and Mad Dog and B-Rod pulled our hero out. Sharkman was feeling good and made his move a bit early and had too work hard, which he does not like to do, to keep out front and take the first sprint. He later stated that he thought they were further up 37th than they were.....(he must be losing it......) After the G Ave. stop and Sharkman's confirmation of the count, the Nation headed to the next sprint, but no one seemed interested contesting the sprint in the fun up to the col de Twin Lakes.

Toast thought it was "Wine Jersey Day!"
The Nation bunched up on the climb but then spread out as Mad Dog went to the front, after the climb, to take the next sprint.

The rain continued as the Nation made the turn at the Yorkville Church and headed through Kellogg Korner and the Kountry Klub and on to the Rt. 43 Sprint where Zychman came from the back and as he went by, Sharkman latched on but could not overtake him before the sprint.

Sharkman led the Nation through the Caution Area on Rt. 43 but was overtaking at the foot of the climb to the col de Norte.

The Nation stopped at the summit with the ENTIRE NATION stopping on the right side of the road, did not circle the intersection and did not get in the road!
Easty thought it was "Drug Jersey Day!"
Sharkman complemented the Nation with special recognition to Gazelle Girl for starting the “trend to the right.”

The Nation headed south through the Holy Rollers and as they moved out from Frona's and made the turn south, a hush went over the Nation as Sharkman shouted out, “Mechanical!”
It might be Beer Jersey Day, but
Hoosier Boy had his koffee!

The Sharkman's rear tire had flatted and the entire Nation was in shock as no one, including the old Shark, could remember his ever having a flat on the KK-TdG! Even when the phenomenon known as the “Bermuda Triangle of Flat Tires” just after the Digital Divide AND the year someone spread nails in the road, Sharkman somehow had come through unscathed.

But not on this wet and wild day!

None the less, Sharkman, ever the bike savant, gave a clinic on swift tire changing. It was later described by witnesses as being like watching a skilled pit crew at the Indy 500 or a classical concert pianist playing Mozart on a fine baby grand piano!

Assisted by his loyal Wingman, Yeti Boy, he quickly got to the side of the road and while the Great Dane held his bike and Yeti Boy pulled out Sharkman's tire, prepped in Baby Powder, the tire was changed in the blink of an eye and a puff of said Baby Powder while B-Rod complained it was taking too long. However, he was quickly booed by the nation who seemed to be mesmerized by the artistry of Sharkman's skill with tire changing! He and Yeti Boy did have a minor problem getting the last bit of tire
Boatman & Toesetter in Bell's colors!
bead up over the rim (see photo), but B-Rod, ever the heavy hander, quickly flipped the bead over the rim and after a spit of CO2 and another puff of Baby Powder, they were off once again!
But not for long. It appeared there wasn't enough CO2 in the tire and Sharkman gave it a second jolt that was enough to keep him going!

The Nation formed up at the Digital Divide and began to form something similar to a pace line as they crossed.

Immediately, everyone wondered if the Sweetheart of the Peloton would contest her beloved GGG Spot Sprint!

As the Nation bore down, Gazelle Girl found herself throughly boxed in as her coveted GGG Spot Sprint approached. Someone beckoned her to “take what's rightfully hers” to which the Sweetheart of the Peloton bellowed, “But I'm boxed in!” However, The Nation, (being “The Nation”) opened up that box and allowed our Sweetheart to achieve satisfaction! After everyone had their cigarette, Gazelle Girl was
The Greyhound looks even taller
in his Oberon Jersey!
heard cooing, “Is this a great country or what?!?”

Indeed it is Gazelle Girl, indeed it is......

The Nation formed up for the final assault and stayed pretty bunched together as the sped to the final sprint with Iceman putting in a humongous pull at the front. Though he backed off for a short time, the venerable podium dweller came back to the front at the summit of the final climb. The Nation was like an out of control train engine, throwing water up from their tires with riders spitting out small mammals that were coming off their tires from the rain.

Emerging from the mass of riders, B-Rod and Chains the Bounty Hunter shot out of the pack like a ham and cheese sandwich from a super models mouth with Iceman hot on their wheels. The three seemed glued together before B-Rod edged out Chains with Iceman taking the third spot on the podium.

The fans went wild on the Champs le Galesburg as the heroes of the road came ambling in to the Klutch, wet and wild from the ride.
Two old guys giving a tire change clinic!

However, when they got in the Klutch, three young ladies were getting foo foo koffee and it backed the Nation up into the street outside. Sharkman, being Sharkman, cut in line near the front but still had to wait. When Zychmann made it to the front of the line to order koffee and Andrew asked him what he wanted he said, “I can't remember....I was young when I got in line!”

The Great Dane bought for Sharkman, which made him a happy Shark and before long the Nation was sitting, talking and still reminiscing about the clinic Sharkman conducted on tire changing.

Baby Powder? Wait, .....what?
Sharkman was, however, in a hurry as Lava Girl was having a big shindig at the house and he had to get back, clean up and get out, before all the ladies arrived! As Sharkman jumped on his steed and launched across the street, he felt something funny in the front wheel! What, could it be....could it possibly be......Oh, the humanity......his front tire was flat!

Luckily, Mad Dog had an extra tube (which was not encased in Baby Powder.....oh the shame) and CO2 and before Yeti Boy could get his care and get back, the tire was changed and they were off again! Oh, that Sharkman! What a tire changing savant!

“IN OTHER NEWS”

Belo News
June 3, 2015

Augusta, Mi. - Due to all the rain over the weekend, Ride Leader Reb took the wise decision to cancel the Monday Mountain Bike Ride as the trails needed some drying out and no one wants to “rut up” the trails. It is hoped the Nation will be back out there next Monday.

However, the Tuesday night ride was back in action, sans Sharkman who was up in Lansing. However, Special Reporter Mad Dog submitted the following story and though you may have needed to be there to understand, it is worth the read. These intrepid riders decided to go out to dinner at La Cocina after turning in a speedy 20.6 mph average and finding out it was Airman's last ride as he is moving up to Grand Rapids. The beer consumption may explain the story.

Here goes.....

"The reason for the contrite report by Airman will be evident after reading this in-depth report of the actual events:

Needing to get out of the house early after over hearing a podcast playing on the in-law's computer proclaiming Michelle Obama to be a man because her fingers are too long, I left the house early. Waiting to get onto Capital, Nike Boy goes past on a very stylish cruiser with full fenders and mud flaps. If you thought he looked good on Sat. mornings, you should see him on his way to yoga. This guy even has casual shoes to match his yoga outfit.

I arrive at K2 with Wildman, Airman, and Stingray all set to go. Even though its before 5:30 Airman says "Lets roll, no one else is coming" in a very take charge authoritative voice. The rest of us, like good Minions, voice concerns about leaving early in case someone else should show up, to which Airman says "No one else ever shows up, lets go!" Unfortunately, our Minion need for a leader took over and we followed him out of the parking lot like lemmings to start our ride.

Barely into the ride we hear a call out from behind, and looking back its none other than Hoosier Boy making his Tues. night debut. Not only did we almost leave a Minion behind, but Airman tries to blame the early departure on Mad Dog!

The group worked hard and stayed together till just before the end with an average of 21 mph.

Upon learning this would be Airman's last Tues. night ride, Wildman, Stingray and I met for a farewell meal. After some casual conversation Airman slips in a term supposedly referring to a seat post. Now we're not sure if it was the tall beer (which he really didn't want), or lack of blood sugar (due to the waiter not bring him his soft drink), but the rest of us soon realized he was mixing up terms and images. It seems he has been hiding, shall we say an alternative magazine, inside a bike magazine, and when caught by his wife reading said rag, quickly flipped to a review of some seat post, thus fusing the term and image together in his mind.

Upon seeing the utter disbelief and shock in our faces upon learning the definition of Airman's new word, he tries to deflect the whole situation with yet another new word, evidently often used in conjunction with the first. All these words and definitions were questionable quick to be found by him on his phone, like everyone should know them.

We end the evening realizing all Minions should be warned when Airman is in charge."

Editors Note – well, we are not sure what you guys are talking about, but it is obvious that adult supervision, and particularly Sharkman, is needed whenever a few Minions are gathered together. And especially when beer is involved!

Riders joining the Minion rides acknowledge the inherent risk involved with bicycle riding and by joining any Minion ride hold harmless any rider involved.
